MOPAR CANADA MEDIA & TEST DAY TAKES TO THE TRACK AT KAWARTHA SPEEDWAY

Mopar Canada Test DayMopar Canada recently hosted a Media & Test Day at Kawartha Speedway in Ontario, which was attended by seven drivers that campaign Mopar Dodge Challengers and Avengers in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series. In addition to a number of on-track practice sessions the drivers had the opportunity to meet with the media for interviews and photo shoots in preparation for the 2011 campaign which kicks off on May 28.

Ron Beauchamp Jr., sporting a racy new Dodge Challenger body on his Mopar Parts No. 60, turned a number of laps on the track as he shook down his car, while getting acclimated with new Crew Chief Mike Knott, a veteran of the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series.

"I just can't believe how good the car felt," said Beauchamp after a segment on the track. "I just kept driving the car deeper and deeper each time around and I was expecting it to get loose, but it didn't. I can't remember having a car that handled this well. Mike has worked with us in the past a little bit and when the opportunity for him to come aboard full-time and be our Crew Chief came about we were thrilled."

Beauchamp, who has been sporting the Mopar colors for a number of seasons, looks to improve on a seventh-place showing in points last season that saw him rack up seven Top-10 finishes. The native of Windsor, Ontario finished third in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series standings in 2009. He has scored a couple of pole positions with the series in his career, including last season at Barrie Speedway.

Also on track during the Mopar Canada Test Day were fellow Mopar supported drivers: Noel Dowler Jr., Jason Hathaway, DJ Kennington, Jeff Lapcevich, Pete Shepherd III and Jason White.

"We were thrilled with the turnout for Mopar Test Day at Kawartha Speedway," said John Eason, Mopar Sales and Marketing Manager. "It was a chilly day, but everyone had a great time. The drivers were able to turn plenty of laps on the track to test and tune their Avengers and Challengers. The media had ample opportunities to meet with the drivers for one-on-one interviews and photo shoots. The outstanding staff at Kawartha Speedway welcomed everyone with open arms and did an amazing job. We are very thankful to them for hosting Mopar Test Day and to all the drivers and their crews for participating, along with the dedicated media members in attendance."

The first event of the 12-round NASCAR Canadian Tire Series season for Beauchamp aboard his Mopar-powered Dodge Challenger will be May 28 at Mosport Speedway near Bowmanville, Ontario.
