PODIUM FINISH FOR ANDREW RANGER IN TORONTO
July 16, 2016. Andrew Ranger and the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge were on their game during round number five of the NASCAR Pinty’s Series this past Saturday during the Toronto Indy weekend. Ranger clocked the fastest lap during qualifying to score his first pole position of the season and brought home his third podium finish of the season.
The #27 Mopar Parts Dodge was quick through practice and Ranger only needed a couple of laps during qualifying to capture his 18th career series pole to become the all time series leader. “We made a couple of small adjustments from the morning practice and it really made the car perfect” said Ranger.
When the green flag waved in the Saturday afternoon race Ranger’s #27 Mopar Parts Dodge was under attack from several competitors. Ranger would surrender the top spot but regain it on lap 9. “It was a really hard race from the very beginning,” explained the driver. “Everyone really wanted to be out front”.
The race would slow two times for on track incidents and it was the restarts that proved to be difficult for Ranger and his #27 Mopar Parts Dodge. “We had a little trouble with the restart, it took a little time for the tire pressure to come up,” he stated.
Ranger fell back a position just past the midway point of the event and with a green, white, checker, end to the race was unable to navigate the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge back to the front and would finish a close second. “I have to say thanks to the team, the Mopar guys did a great job this weekend, we gain a lot of points, we lead the championship and want to keep the momentum going” said Ranger.
After five events Andrew Ranger leads the overall championship by 13 points.
Andrew Ranger and the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge team head west and return to action next Saturday, July 23rd at Edmonton International Raceway.
