May 22, 2016. Andrew Ranger and the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge team were confident and hopeful heading into the first event of the 2016 NASCAR Pinty’s Series at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park this past Sunday. The team worked diligently in the off-season to prepare their racecars and looked forward to returning to the victory podium. They accomplished that mission.

During practice and qualifying the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge was quick and Ranger was pleased with how the car handled. “We tried a few things during our test session but weren’t happy with it so we went back to what worked well for us in the past” said Ranger.

Ranger was able to post the second quickest time during the qualifying session and started the 51-lap race on the front row. “I was happy with the car all day and for the race, I just wanted to be smooth and make sure I was able to charge near the end if I needed to” he stated.

During the opening laps Ranger settled into a comfortable rhythm with the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge and stayed close to the front. An early caution period slowed the field the team used the opportunity to pit for fuel and tires. The team would make a second stop for fuel later and then the rest was up to the driver.

As the race laps ticked away Ranger moved back toward the front putting the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge in position for a solid result. A late race caution period slowed the field and set up a green, white, checkered two-lap sprint to the finish with Ranger in the third position. As the field came to the green, rain showers also began to soak portions of the track.

“When we went green I followed the #32 car as he took the lead but when he went a little bit wide and left an opening I went for it and got to the lead” explained Ranger.

Ranger would carefully guide his #27 Mopar Parts Dodge the balance of the race distance around the famed ten-turn road course and take the checkered flag and his 21st career victory.

“I have to thank Mopar and whole team that worked so hard all winter to prepare such great cars,” said Ranger. “Those last couple of laps were pretty exciting and slippery, I had a little trouble seeing but it feels great to take the win” he added.

Andrew Ranger and the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge team return to action for round number two of the NASCAR Pinty’s Series on Saturday June 11th at the Autodrome Chaudière.
